FIRST HALF TERM

TOPIC THEMES – Revision of Numbers 1 - 20, Las Frutas (fruits), Las Verduras (vegetables), En El Mercado (at the market)

VOCABULARY – The new starters have settled in really well. Each lesson we begin by greeting each other in Spanish, using the following expressions – “¡Hola! Buenos días, buenas tardes, Señora Maria” (Hello, good afternoon Maria), then I will ask each of them “¿Qué tal?” “¿Cómo estás?” (How are you?) and they reply “¡Estoy bien/muy bien!” (I’m good/very good!) “Estoy mal” (I’m not good) or “Estoy regular” (I’m fine). We have practised asking and answering the question “¿Cómo te llamas?” (What is your name?) “Me llamo…” (My name is…) This term we have covered fruits and vegetables and have learnt the following vocabulary – ‘la naranja’ (orange), ‘el limón’ (lemon), ‘la manzana’ (apple), ‘las uvas’ (grapes), ‘la fresa’ (strawberry), ‘la cereza’ (cherry), ‘la pera’ (pear), ‘el melocotón’ (peach), ‘la piña’ (pineapple), ‘la zanahoria’ (carrot), ‘el col’ (cabbage), ‘el tomate’, ‘el rabano’ (radish), ‘el champiñón’ (mushroom), ‘los guisantes’ (peas), ‘la patata’, ‘el puerro’ (leek), ‘el maíz’ (corn), ‘la cebola’ (onion), ‘el calabacín’ (courgette), ‘el brocoli’.

FOR THE REST OF THE TERM WE WILL COVER

TOPIC THEMES – Revision of Numbers 20 - 30, Los Insectos (insects), La Casa (house), Las Habitaciónes (rooms), ‘Los Meubles’ (furniture)

VOCABULARY – For the rest of the term we will learn the names of the following insects – ‘la araña (spider), ‘la hormiga’ (ant), ‘la mariposa’ (butterfly), ‘la mosca’ (fly), ‘la pulga’ (flea), ‘la mariquita’ (ladybird). Next we will learn the following vocabulary for things around the house – ‘la pared’ (wall), ‘el tejado’ (roof), ‘la puerta’ (door), ‘la ventana’ (window), ‘la chimenea’ (chimney), ‘la casa’ (house), and the following rooms in the house – ‘la cocina’ (kitchen), ‘el salón’ (living room), ‘el dormitorio’ (bedroom), ‘el cuatro de baño’ (bathroom), ‘el comedor’ (dining room). We will then learn the following items of furniture – ‘la mesa’ (table) ‘la tele’ (television), ‘la silla’ (chair), ‘la alfombra’ (carpet), ‘el lavabo’ (sink), ‘el váter’ (toilet), ‘la ducha’ (shower), ‘el horno’ (oven), ‘el sofá’, ‘la lámpara’ (lamp) la cama (bed).
